Confirm eligibility first
A Business Profile is for eligible businesses, generally those making in-person contact with customers under Google’s guidelines. Before optimizing, confirm ownership, eligibility and the right representation of the business.
A service-area business should follow the relevant address-display rules. Do not invent an office or use a location that does not represent the business.
Describe the real business
Use the business’s real-world name and choose accurate categories. Maintain hours, contact routes, website links and services so that customers can make an informed decision.
Photos should represent the actual business. Update information when the offer or operating details change, and check consistency with the website.
Make reviews a normal customer process
Invite genuine customers to share their experience without incentives or filtering requests toward only positive feedback. Responses should be useful, respectful and avoid disclosing private customer information.
A review workflow is an operational habit, not a promise of a specific ranking or rating.
Connect profile activity to business outcomes
Profile interactions can help diagnose discovery, but they need business context. Understand whether calls and visits lead to appropriate enquiries or bookings.
Maintain a simple record of major profile changes so that shifts in activity can be reviewed alongside seasonality and other marketing work.
